What is a cause?
Cause is why something happened. The cause is the first thing that happens. It comes after the word because.
Examples:
- More hours studied will cause your marks to increase
- I stayed home from school because I had the flu.
- My heart rate increases due to physical activity.
- One cause of underdevelopment is illiteracy.
What is an Effect?
The effect is the second thing that happens. The effect answers the questions:
What happened? -------- What was the result?

Examples:
- Abby was going to fast, as a result, she fell off her bike.
- When water is heated, the molecules move quickly, therefore the water boils.
